About Your HBS

Founded in 1967, the Houston Bonsai Society (HBS) is a nonprofit organization committed to providing outstanding experiences and expert insights into the art of Bonsai for its members and the wider community.

As a proud member of the Lone Star Bonsai Federation, HBS is also affiliated with the American Bonsai Society, the National Bonsai Foundation, and Bonsai Clubs International. These organizations work tirelessly to promote and preserve the art of Bonsai both in the United States and around the world.

HBS has two primary objectives. Firstly, we aim to provide robust support to our Bonsai community, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their level of involvement, has the resources they need to grow and achieve their goals. Secondly, we embrace the important task of inspiring the next generation of Bonsai enthusiasts, ensuring that this ancient art continues to flourish for another 2000 years.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned Bonsai enthusiast, we invite you to become part of our Bonsai family. Our membership is a vibrant mix of individuals from various communities and walks of life, encompassing a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, with ages spanning from 10 to those in their 70s and 80s.

HBS offers all our members a full calendar of workshops and study groups throughout the year, along with access to a wealth of educational resources collected over the years from our talented resident artists and some of the world's leading Bonsai experts and masters.
