About Your HBS

Established in 1967, the Houston Bonsai Society (HBS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences and expert knowledge in the art of Bonsai to its members and the broader community. 

The Houston Bonsai Society is a member of the Lone Star Bonsai Federation, and is affiliated with the American Bonsai Society, National Bonsai Foundation, and Bonsai Clubs International, all organizations devoted to promoting and preserving the art of Bonsai in the US and worldwide.

HBS focuses on two main goals. First off, we’re all about giving solid support to our Bonsai community, making sure everyone, no matter how involved they are, has what they need to grow and reach their aspirations. At the same time, we take on the awesome responsibility of inspiring the next wave of Bonsai masters, helping to keep this ancient art alive and thriving for another 2000 years.

No matter if you're just starting out with Bonsai or you've been into it for years, everyone is invited to join our Bonsai family. Our community is super diverse, bringing together a mix of cultures from all over the world. We have members ranging in age from 8 to 80, representing all kinds of backgrounds and experiences.

HBS not only hosts a a full schedule of workshops and study groups all year long, but we also give our members access to a treasure trove of educational resources gathered over the years from our own talented artists and some of the top Bonsai artists around the globe.
